My Dad

A proud handsome man
High-spirited, nimble -footed,
Fearless, dynamic 
- My Dad -
Dad was an institution in himself!
I didn't understand his fondness
when he told me that
my marks didn't matter to him
coz my 'BEING' did.
He wanted me to live life!
My warm-hearted Dad !
I didn't comprehend his reasons
for feeling helpless
when something inflicted his kids.
He took on himself not only our needs
but wants too!
My doting Dad !
I was upset when he refused to 
slow down in his later years.
He wanted to show me how to live
beyond the quietus.
My thoughtful Dad !
He made sure that I too be
nimble -footed, and fearless!
And live life like he did !

 Recently, I visited the Panna Meena ka Kund --a lesser known gem --a picturesque square shaped stepwell  with a quaint aura which can precisely be claimed as an exclusive women’s space.  It is situated quite close to the stupendous yellow structure of the majestic Amer Palace. I spent more time at this enticing stepwell, than people generally do, coz it was not just a tourist spot for me -I could feel a magnetic pull as I approached it. Viren gently brakes his Royal Enfield Continental, as he rides past the hoarding –Welcome to City Beautiful. His mind is still wandering through the lush vales, amidst the majestic deodars… surrounded by ‘her’ luscious fragrance. Ah! the memory… In the plush lobby of Radisson Jass, all members of the ‘5-day Motorbike Expedition for the Geriatric Millennials’ were completing the formalities for rental motorcycles for their tour to the hills… except Dr. Viren. Pouting and laughing hard into the camera, brushing her cheeks with both her loving daughters hugging her from either side, Priya’s whole life flashes before hers eyes – the excruciating pain of all those years spent in a toxic wedlock before finally walking out on Soumil; the scathing suffocating remarks of the people around her; the most frightening fears while raising Anoushka and Alia, all by herself; and all those weak moments when she had to put in herculean efforts to keep going –farther, still farther.
